I am running because it is time to bring common sense and honesty back to the way we are governed. Our system was built on a simple, powerful idea: a representative government where those in office serve as the true voice of the people they represent. But somewhere along the way, that idea got lost. Too often, decisions are handed down from the top, and those who should be standing up for us stay silent instead of speaking out against bad choices. When our leaders stop listening and become afraid to speak up, bad decisions happen and our whole community pays the price. I put my name on the ballot to change that. I am here to restore honesty, bring back common sense, and ensure your voice is finally heard.
Building a safe city starts with supporting the people who keep our neighborhoods secure every single day. If elected, I am committed to making real investments in our local law enforcement. That means increasing our funding to hire more officers so our streets are properly patrolled and our community feels protected. But hiring is just the beginning. I will also fight to secure the funding needed for updated equipment so our officers can do their jobs safely and effectively. Finally, I will prioritize comprehensive training, ensuring our police force is fully prepared to serve every resident with care and professionalism. A safe city is the foundation for everything we want to achieve together, and I will make sure our officers have the resources, equipment, and training they need to keep us all safe.
When I look at the challenges facing our region, one thing is clear: homelessness is not an issue that is exclusive to Denver. This is a challenge that affects us all, because homelessness does not stop at municipal lines or city borders. It is everywhere across our metro area, touching neighbors in every single community. That is why I am focused on finding real, lasting solutions for our homeless population. If we truly want to address this issue, we cannot expect one city to tackle it alone. We need the active help, commitment, and collaboration of all surrounding cities working together as one community. I will work across city boundaries to bring everyone together, because solving this shared issue takes all of us.
Our neighborhoods are the heart of this city, and we must protect the quality of life that makes our community home. Unchecked densification is pushing our city to the limit, bringing more traffic, pollution, crime, and unsafe conditions right to our doorsteps. That is why I am proposing an 18-month moratorium on residential building permits that exceed what our 2025 zoning allowed. Furthermore, the city must stop purchasing properties for the use of immigrants and homeless individuals. Quick fixes involving poorly maintained, city-owned properties only cause our surrounding neighborhoods to degrade alongside them. This is simply not the right solution. I am committed to standing up for our neighborhoods, protecting local residents, and keeping our community safe and strong.
When I think about the future of our city, I believe we must take a clear and straightforward stand on how we manage our local resources. My commitment is simple: we must just say no to data centers. In fact, I am completely against allowing any heavy users of utilities in this city, which includes data centers, for any reason at all. Our city must prioritize our own community needs. I am committed to protecting our city's resources by drawing a firm line. There should be no exceptions when it comes to keeping heavy utility users out of our city. Together, we can protect our city and stand strong for our community's future.
When I look at what makes our community a truly great place to live, it always comes back to the strength and character of our neighborhoods. I am dedicated to retaining the unique character of our older neighborhoods while supporting a strong local retail base. To me, a good living environment means creating safe, family-friendly locations where residents and visitors alike can enjoy fun exploration. Protecting our quality of life also means advocating for lower density so we can reduce poor air and keep our surroundings healthy and accessible. By focusing on safe streets, clean air, and vibrant local spots, I will work to ensure our neighborhoods remain welcoming places for families and visitors for years to come.
When we look at the most vibrant and popular cities, survey after survey shows one clear common thread: a strong, thriving arts and creative focus. That is why I am dedicated to promoting a rich arts culture right here in our community. From music, theater, and performance art to educational classes, schools, and museums, a creative focus does so much more than just entertain. It transforms our hometown into a true center of gravity—a welcoming place that draws in tourists, empowers students, and enriches the daily lives of all our citizens. I believe that by championing our local arts and culture, we build a brighter, more connected, and more vibrant future together for everyone who calls our city home.
When it comes to our local neighborhoods, I believe we need common sense in our zoning and land use policies. We cannot keep allowing high-rise residential buildings to be constructed on every piece of vacant land. Our growth must prioritize our overall quality of life. If elected, I will champion development that truly serves our community by focusing on spaces that bring people together. That means advocating for more parks, stadiums, and recreational areas like tennis and pickleball courts, along with more lakes, trees, and flower gardens. We need balanced, sensible planning that enriches our daily lives, protects our community character, and ensures our public spaces reflect what matters most to all of us.
